On November 22nd 2024, China’s Foreign minister has announced that in a trial to run from November 30th 2024 to December 31st 2025, China will double the 15-day visa free entry policy to 30 days for 38 eligible countries. This is only 4 months after their initial announcement about the 15-day visa-free policy, which was received with enthusiasm due to China’s pricey tourist visa. With the duration doubled to 30 days, this is now the same duration as a standard paid visa.

Eligible entry purposes:

People with ordinary passports (ie, diplomatic passports are not included) from the countries listed below can enter China for stays up to 30 days without a visa for the following purposes:
• Business
• Tourism
• Visiting friends and family
• Visits for educational or corporate information exchange

If you are visiting for another reason not covered by this policy, need to stay longer, or your passport is not from the list below, you will still need to get the appropriate visa from the official visa office in your country.
