Every winter since 2008 in Sydney, Australia, there is a 20-something days of colourful light displays in the city and surrounding places, with more venues added each year. Usually starts at the end of May/beginning of June.
Buildings are projected with colourful and changing animations. Best of all, it is free.
This year it goes from the 26th of May to the 17th of June. Make sure to find a time to go. Enjoy this photographic post. These pictures were taken at Circular Quay and from inside the Botanic Gardens.
This year Canon is a major sponsor and you can print 1 A3 sized photo that you took of Vivid. Bring it to the Canon HQ at the Museum of Contemporary Arts between 6pm to 10:30pm on an SD card or USB. You can also get your photo taken with either the Sydney Harbour Bridge or the Opera House as the background directly opposite the Opera House across the water (In the Rocks area near Dawes Point Reserve) and have them emailed to yourself and print up to 4 6 x 4 inch photos for free!

Circular Quay is easily accessible by train and bus. Use the trip planner on transportnsw.info for bus numbers and details. Extra services run during this festival. Public transport is recommended as there are no places to park.
*Tips for photographers*
It is probably not needed to say, that you will need a tripod. I do not have a tripod so I used whatever stationary surface I could find. This website provides excellent thorough tips on where to shoot Sydney during Vivid.
